“I have never spoken to the new foreign minister,” Grossi says.

“I hope to be able to have the opportunity to meet with him soon because it’s very important … so when there is a problem, when there is misunderstanding, when there is a disagreement, we can talk about it. I used to have it before, and I would assume it that I would be the normal thing,” he added.

Iran has invariably welcomed either meeting or cooperating with the Agency’s officials, but has warned the body against falling under the influence of third parties as it calibrates its relations with Tehran.

The Islamic Republic has also rejected any IAEA’s report accusing it of non-cooperation.

Grossi, meanwhile, said he had “no indication” that Iran was after building a nuclear weapon.

His remarks reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s repeated assertions that it has never pursued such non-conventional arms as per religious, humanitarian, and moral guidelines.
