Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched a fierce attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a Mahagathbandhan poll rally in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, accusing him of doing “anything for votes.” Addressing the crowd alongside Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial face Tejashwi Yadav, Gandhi said, “If you tell Modi ji to do drama for votes, he would do. If you tell him that you would vote for him and ask him to come to the stage and dance, he would dance.” He further alleged that Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar is merely a figurehead, while the state’s real control lies with the Bharatiya Janata Party. “I agree with Tejashwi Yadav that the government in Bihar is being run through remote control. They are simply using Nitish Kumar’s face,” he said, adding that the BJP has “nothing to do with social justice” and is avoiding a caste census. Gandhi also recalled challenging the Prime Minister in the Lok Sabha to conduct a caste census, claiming Modi had “no answer.” His remarks quickly drew sharp criticism from the BJP. Party leader Pradeep Bhandari posted on X that Rahul Gandhi “speaks like a local goon,” accusing him of mocking Indian voters and democracy. Union Minister Giriraj Singh also hit back, saying, “The habit of dancing runs in Gandhi’s family,” while adding that “the people of Bihar will give them a befitting reply.” The comments came after the BJP had earlier accused Rahul Gandhi of being “missing” from public view, with BJP’s Amit Malviya sharing a poster claiming Gandhi had been absent for 59 days. The fiery exchanges come ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, scheduled in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results to be declared on November 14
