Congress leader Rahul Gandhi intensified his attack on the BJP during a campaign rally in Bihar, accusing the central government of taking decisions like GST and demonetisation to “destroy small businesses and benefit big corporations.” Without mincing words, Gandhi named the Ambani and Adani groups, reiterating allegations that the ruling regime’s economic policies favour a few powerful industrialists. He contrasted the Congress approach by saying, “We want to promote small businesses and replace ‘Made in China’ labels on phones and T-shirts with ‘Made in Bihar.’” Continuing his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi alleged that the PM would do anything for votes, saying sarcastically, “Tell him to do yoga, he will do a few asanas.” He further said that if the INDIA bloc is voted to power in Bihar, it will form a government that works for every section of society, not for a particular caste. Gandhi also accused the Prime Minister of trying to distract the youth by encouraging them to watch social media reels so they do not question real issues like unemployment. Earlier, in rallies held at Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga, Gandhi launched personal attacks on the PM, saying, “Tell him at a rally, ‘Mr. Prime Minister, we’ll vote for you if you dance,’ and he’ll start dancing.” Following these remarks, the BJP lodged a formal complaint against the Congress leader. The political atmosphere in Bihar continues to heat up ahead of the two-phase Assembly elections scheduled for November 6 and 11, with counting of votes to be held on November 14.
