Mumbai: Actress Radhika Apte, known for her work across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, and Malayalam films, recently opened up about facing challenging situations on certain South Indian film sets.
In a conversation with Saali Mohabbat co-star Divyenndu Sharma for Screen, Radhika said she sometimes took on South Indian films out of financial necessity but emphasized that South India produces incredible cinema.
Reflecting on her difficult experiences, she shared,
“I remember on one film, I was the only woman on set in a small town. They wanted to add padding on my breasts and bum. They were like, ‘More padding amma!’ I was like, ‘How much more padding? How much rounder will you make somebody?’ I told them to inform the director — no padding.”
Radhika explained that she had no manager or agent at the time, and the team was entirely male, which made the situation even more challenging.
The actress has appeared in Tamil films like All in All Azhagu Raja, Vetri Selvan, and Kabali, and in Telugu cinema, she acted in Legend opposite Nandamuri Balakrishna.
She was recently seen in OTT releases: Saali Mohabbat on Zee5 and Raat Akeli Hai – The Bansal Murders on Netflix.
