Hubballi: Karnataka Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against three minor boys for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl over a period of more than a week in Hubballi, officials said on Sunday.

According to police, the accused boys are aged between 14 and 15 years. The incident reportedly took place while the girl’s parents were away at work during the daytime.

“A complaint was filed stating that a minor girl was subjected to sexual harassment and assault by three accused. All three accused are minors in the age group of 14 to 15 years. We have taken them into custody,” Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner N Shashikumar told news agency ANI.

He added that the alleged offences occurred repeatedly over the last seven to eight days. “The parents of the girl were working and used to be away during the day. Taking advantage of this, the boys committed sexual offences against the girl,” Shashikumar said.

Police have initiated further investigation and said all legal procedures will be followed under the POCSO Act as well as the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, given that both the victim and the accused are minors.

In Separate Case, Karnataka Police Solve Brutal Murder in Tumakuru

In a separate development, Karnataka Police have solved the gruesome murder of a 42-year-old woman, Lakshmi Devi, from Koratagere near Tumakuru. Her body was allegedly chopped into 19 pieces and dumped in plastic bags along a roadside.

The case came to light on August 7 after passersby discovered several plastic covers containing human remains in Kolala village and alerted police. A search operation the following day led to the recovery of additional bags, including one containing the victim’s severed head.

Superintendent of Police Ashok K V said a special investigation team was formed immediately. The probe led to the arrest of Lakshmi Devi’s son-in-law, Dr Ramachandrappa S, a local dentist, along with two associates—Satish K N and Kiran K S—all residents of Tumakuru.
